Phase 1: Reflect on Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge
What is my knowledge of technology? (TK)
I have a general knowledge of technology. I use Microsoft word, powerpoint, email, united streaming, compass odyssey and smartboards. I am familiar with and have used A.R. (Accelerated Reader) and STARR testing in the past. I am not familiar with Wikis or Blogs.
What is my knowledge of pedagogy? (PK)
When I teach I use a lot of modeling, direct teaching, and small group teaching. I incorporate a variety of approaches when I teach. When the students have become very familiar with materials and use of those materials, they work in small groups or stations alone. I am hoping to elaborate on my stations this year through our action research project.
What is my knowledge of the content? (CK)
I have a B.A. in elementary education with a minor in spanish. I have twelve credit hours towards an Early Childhood degree and I am working towards a masters in teaching and leadership. I have been teaching for seven years in the same school district. I taught third, fourth, and fifth grade each for a year. This will be my fourth year in kindergarten.
Where do I see myself in the TPACK model?
I am uncomfortable using new technology. I am somewhat comfortable using technology that I have been properly trained in. I am not affraid of new technology and am open to new ideas. I do find it hard to incoporate technology into my current curriculum with kindergarteners.
